We can learn a lot from good buskers. Take Funny Bones, a Japanese and UK duo, who performed at the Victoria International Buskers Festival recently. They were my favourite act. I love summer festivals!
Here’s a Funny Bones promo clip (5 minutes duration):

With my business and collaboration hat on, here’s a few things I liked about Funny Bones:
- Their show was non-stop, 1-hour of continuous creativity, and ah-hah moments
- They involved the crowd, “participaction”
- Their show was structured, yet improvised… improv within a structure, thinking inside the box
- They each had a diverse set of skills and expertise; master craftsmen
- They blended simplicity and innovation; extending simple props with their imagination
- They both shared the spotlight and collaborated as a team
- The performed almost entirely with non-verbal communication (discounting kazoos!)
- They really did offer a unique value proposition
- They were free to watch… though, of course, I contributed when they held their hats out at the end… I had no choice
Well, now if we could all craft that type of impression, in our business, wouldn’t that be grand. How about you – got a favourite summer festival act you’d like to share?

Me, I’m not that funny, though I do draw a laugh, from time to time. 🙂
