I’ve found that as an avid reader, listener, and consumer of ideas, sometimes a short summary or synopsis of what the “expert” has to say (in long form) can be useful. Generative AI provides some great tools for creating those summaries.
The following audios (all 10-20 minutes) were created using Google’s NotebookLM. The audio/podcast hosts are AI-generated. The content they provide is legit, at least when matched with my own experience; i.e. having read the book, listened to podcast and/or video. All are from 2024.
William Ury
I asked AI to summarize ‘Possible’, William Ury’s latest book. The following (18 minute) podcast conversation is the result. Ury is a world-reknown negotiator. His experiences and stories are fascinating. I previously featured Ury and his book on my blog, The Trust Menu: A constructive response to broken trust and damaged relationships.
Yuval Harari, Colin Rule, Max Bennett
I asked AI to intersect the work of Yuval Harari (Israeli historian), Colin Rule (CEO of Mediate.com), and Max Bennett (author of A Brief History of Intelligence). This (12 minute) podcast conversation is the result. I wrote about the process to generate this audio on my blog, AI product demo – How Google’s NotebookLM helps manage complex information.
Madhumita Murgia
Madhumita Murgia is the AI editor of the Financial Times. I asked AI to reflect on her work; including: documenting the dangers associated with created the large language models associated with generative AI (e.g. data colonialism). This (15 minute podcast conversation is the result).
Charles Duhigg
This (12 minute) AI podcast conversation summarizes a TED talk by award-winning author, and columnist, Charles Duhigg re: his latest book about “Supercommunicators: how to unlock the secret language of connection”.
