Break down silos, improve teamwork, collaborate for impact.
Collaboration is about people working together.
Facilitation of Difficult Conversations
People transform through conversations. I help leaders convene difficult conversations; conversations that bring people together, to safely discuss areas of concern, and build bridges along lines of mutual interest. Conversations can take place in a small group and/or workshop setting.
Small, diverse, semi-autonomous collaborative teams are an effective way to learn, innovate and get things done. I help leaders frame and implement projects that connect action-oriented people, while maintaining a light hand, in governance and structure.
Virtual communications and collaboration skills are increasingly viewed as core competencies. I help leaders interact virtually in ways that enhance interpersonal communications and relationships, apply technology appropriately, and run productive virtual meetings, teams, and boards.
I’ve been successfully facilitating collaborative initiatives and projects for a long time.
My first career was in civil engineering. With Reid Crowther consulting engineers, I managed a multi-million $ land development construction project.
For many years, I was a business analyst and project manager on IT projects, with Accenture, Sierra Systems, and through my company, Ziegler Consulting. My work crossed all project life cycle phases, from business development, through project delivery, to post-implementation support.
I’ve consulted to multiple BC Government online dispute resolution systems initiatives; leveraging my expertise in conflict management.
I work, internationally, as a project advisor with the Canadian Executive Service Organization; my most recent assignments were in Tanzania (2016) and the Philippines.
In 2014, for the Vancouver Foundation, I co-created a unique collaboration model for the nonprofit sector.
With IdeaConnection, I facilitate global virtual project teams, working on corporate innovation challenges.
“I hired Ben as a project manager for a high risk, many-faceted project. His attention to detail, realistic approach and consultative manner gave this project the boost it needed. I would hire him again unreservedly.” Pam Wilkins, British Columbia Government
“Ben is a creative thinker and blogger. In the Philippines, he pulled off a tricky assignment with CESO when he photographed, videotaped and interviewed people for a blog. His positive messages, actions and collaborative approach demonstrated how to work with others in projects here and abroad. ” Alex Gillis, (former) Communications and Public Engagement Manager, Canadian Executive Service Organization
